Dame Margot Hamilton

The Dowager Countess of Richborough

The Show

Dame Margot in Cabaret - expect the unexpected... Deceptive in appearance as an "old grande dame" of the stage, audiences soon recognise her as anybody's favourite Great Aunt, Grandmother...or even favourite Primary School Teacher - as you might want but would never expect them to be!  Dame Margot's sharp wit, observant eye and gracious yet commanding stage presence make her Cabaret show an unusual and unexpected treat!

Combining her love of early Musical Theatre and Music Hall ("We'll gather Lilacs," "Let's have a tiddly at the Milk Bar") with "hot from Tin Pot Alley" contemporary hits ("I will survive," "Never been to me,") audiences are delighted and even enthralled by her vocal range and live delivery!  With her amazing mezzo-soprano range, Dame Margot can rumble in the middle-tones then soar into higher registers with acrobatic ease, proving that interdisciplinary music styles can be combined in one song let alone one show!

From her "school-ma'am greeting," through her early reminiscences to satirical observations on the "state of the nation" to her final imploration to "do unto others as you would be done by"; Dame Margot's patter is both refreshing, insightful and hilariously funny...  What do pensioners think of New Labour's Pension Reforms, LGBT rights, same sex marriages, "cash for peerages"...  why did every school girl wear grey flannel knickers to school and what was life really like in the nation's top girls boarding school...?  All these questions and more are answered by Dame Margot!

With her impressive knowledge of historical facts and figures, understanding of social manners and political correctness - just one line given seriously or in jest can command respect or induce wonder or appreciation...  audiences warm to her innocent use of double entendre or contemporary colloquialisms!  Demanding by age and background the privilege of imbibing on stage, naturally phrases and memory can get confused providing further comical and unrehearsed commentary and 'events' during the show!

Dame Margot has appeared at various Cabaret venues up and down the country, delighted, amused and wowed audiences of various ages and cultural preclavities to wild admiration and applause!  From celebrity parties through after dinner appearances, charity galas, Pride and Fringe Festivals through pubs and nightclubs... proving on every occasion to be a "star" and a "treasure"!  This is one show you will never have seen the like of before!
